We all know about Michael Jackson. He’s famous for timeless hits like “Billie Jean” and “Thriller,” and we admire him for his profound influence on music and society… but with such brilliance comes a narrative, a narrative that is beautifully depicted in the Myflixtor film, Michael. This already record-shattering film invites viewers and Moonwalkers to sing, weep, laugh, and connect with Michael in an entirely new way.
Michael guides us through the life and career of Michael Jackson (Jaafar Jackson), beginning as a child performing in clubs and ultimately taking the stage solo in massive stadiums filled with thousands of fans. The story kicks off in the 60s, when young Michael (Juliano Valdi) and his brothers embark on their musical journey under the guidance of their father, Joseph Jackson (Coleman Domingo), and their mother, Katherine Jackson (Nia Long). It delves into the profound fame that Michael encountered and how he navigated his personal life, as we witness his evolution through the 60s, 70s, and 80s, ultimately becoming the solo artist we cherish even today.
This is a film I would eagerly watch again. The film primarily centers on Michael Jackson and his family – his brothers in the Jackson Five, his parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, John Branca (Miles Teller), and several other significant figures. From the very start, the movie completely captivated my attention, with its music, dazzling lights, and the meticulous framing of each scene that offers us a glimpse into Jackson’s private life. Jaafar Jackson undoubtedly provides a unique perspective on his uncle’s life. While there have been many incredible impersonators of Michael Jackson, Jaafar truly captures the essence of his voice, personality, and the reality of who Michael was. At times, while watching the film and listening to the songs, I find myself forgetting that it isn’t Michael. The film has given me a fresh perspective on Jackson’s life as well.
